DMOZ is an Netscape project also known as Open Directory Project, which has a quite importance for web crawlers. As, Mr. Cobanli said in his blog "Inclusion in DMOZ.org is hard and is in most of the cases a one time chance, DMOZ.org is really important as most search engines give alot importance to sites included in dmoz; indeed it is primary source of relevant information for all the search engines. In the picture above, you can see that (Green Lines), meaning supply of information." It is constructed and maintained by a community of volunteer editors. One of the original motivations for forming Gnuhoo/Newhoo/ODP was the frustration that many people experienced in getting their sites listed on Yahoo! Directory. However Yahoo! has since implemented a paid service for timely consideration of site submissions. That lead has been followed by many other directories. Some accept no free submission at all. By contrast the ODP has maintained its policy of free site submissions for all types of site — the only one of the major general directories to do so. Check the folowing links to go in further detail, but never forget if you are a commercial web site and want to be ranked higher in search engines you have to be in DMOZ somehow.
